Acting in a comedy is not as easy as it looks. It is easier to make someone cry, as you may appeal to his or her painful and tragic emotions in the past, rather than trying to deliver a punch line and make someone laugh. Similarly, the things that you find funny might not be funny to other people, and vice versa. That is why comedy actors are either born, or are gifted with the incredible talent of making people laugh. Here are some of Hollywood’s most valued comedians:

Jerry Seinfeld

An American stand-up comedian, actor and a writer, Jerry Seinfeld is best known for his portrayal in the semi-fictional version of himself in the comedy series Seinfeld which aired from 1989 to 1998. According to Forbes magazine, Jerry Seinfeld’s annual earnings from the said sitcom, in 1998, reportedly reached $267 million that makes him the highest-earning celebrity that year. Still from the same magazine, Seinfeld was still declared the highest-paid comedian during a 12-month period with earnings amounting to $85 million. If that isn’t enough, he being an avid collector of automobiles, was rumored to have the largest collection of Porsche cars in the world!

Chris Rock

Chris Rock is an American comedian, actor, screenwriter, television and film producer and a director who managed to make humor out of a few of his experiences as a teenager such as that involving his family, class relationships, music, romance and even politics. Being the funny man that he is, he was voted in the United States as the 5th greatest stand-up comedian of all time by Comedy Central, and was also voted in UK as the 8th greatest stand-up comic in 2010 on Channel 4’s 100 Greatest Stand-Ups. Having been visible in several movies such as You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, Death at a Funeral and Grown Ups, Chris Rock is said to be valued second with earnings amounting to $42 million.

Jeff Dunham

You might have seen him in numerous television shows such as Star Search, Late Shoe with David Letterman, Comedy Central Presents, The Tonight Show and Sonny With a Chance. Being a comedian for the most part of his life, he has been known as a very talented ventriloquist and stand-up comedian. His usual puppets include a woozle that goes by the name of Peanut, a bitter old man named Walter, a talking Jalapeño pepper on a stick named Jose Jalapeño, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, a redneck named Bubba J., and a superhero named Melvin the Superhero Guy. In the most recent survey of Forbes.com magazine, he has been ranked as the third highest earning comic, earning approximately $30 million.
